Who we are

Nine companies in five sectors, each started to meet a need Bangladesh had at the time and still meeting it.

About the group

In energy, J.B. & Co. distributes petroleum and fertilizer, Trishna Filling Station fuels about a million vehicles a year in Dhaka, and Harun Solar imports and installs solar systems. On the rivers, Hosni Ara River Transport runs passenger launches and cargo vessels, and A. K. Shipyard builds and repairs them on 320,000 square feet.

In steel, Ibrahim Steel Mills rolls rods, angles and deformed bars, and Madinah Al Mahrus Metals trades HMS 1 and 2, light metal and copper scrap. Hosne Ara Corporation imports on demand and exports Bangladeshi goods to partners in eight countries. Harun Agro runs a cattle market every Monday and a 500,000 square foot duck farm.

The group is family owned and has been since J.B. & Co. began distributing petroleum in 1948. Each company is run as its own business, and each one is stronger for the others around it.

The fuel J.B. & Co. distributes is sold on Trishna's forecourt. The launches and cargo vessels of Hosni Ara River Transport are repaired at A. K. Shipyard. The scrap Madinah Al Mahrus Metals sorts feeds the same mills Ibrahim Steel supplies. Hosne Ara Corporation imports the machinery the others need and exports what the land produces.
